A night on the streets of Monterey: Noel León’s dream race weekend

Noel León’s first Formula 3 season is all done but he has already signed up to return for a second campaign in 2025 with PREMA Racing.
He will face many of the tracks he drove at in 2024 next year, so we recently sat down with him to have him design his own race weekend and he chose to return home to Monterrey, Mexico.
WHERE WOULD THE RACE BE HELD?
“In my hometown of Monterrey, Mexico.”
Luke Browning Season Review: 2024 title was just not meant to be

WHEN WOULD THE RACE BE HELD?
“Probably in August so everybody is struggling from the heat because it is so hot. Normally in August we are around 43-44 degrees, so it’s really hot.”
DAY OR NIGHT RACE?
“A night race because if not it will be tough for everybody with the heat, so let is cool down a little.”
WOULD IT BE A STREET TRACK OR PERMANENT CIRCUIT?
“Street track. I love them to be honest. As a driver you don’t have as much of an advantage because you have not been driving and training there, because you cannot train on the street tracks. So, it’s good for the drivers to show how quickly they can adapt to the conditions of the track.”
WHAT WOULD THE TRACK LOOK LIKE?
“I like the street circuits that are normally have a lot of high-speed corners like Jeddah. So, I would like a combination of Jeddah, and I would take a lot of stuff from Baku as well, so that would be a nice track.”

WHAT TYRES WOULD YOU BRING?
“Hard tyres because it will be so hot that if we put the Softs, we are going to struggle a lot.”
WHICH CELEBRITIES WOULD YOU INVITE AS GUESTS?
“Checo Perez for sure, to support the Mexican GP and it would be great in my hometown. Pato O’Ward because he also is from Monterrey, Mexico and I will go with Daniel Suárez as well from NASCAR and he as well is from my hometown. So, it will be great to have them there to support my home Grand Prix.”
WHICH ARTISTS WOULD PLAY ACROSS THE WEEKEND?
“No idea. Now in Mexico there is a really popular trend of music that is called Corridos Belicones, you need to hear but it’s good. It’s like Peso Pluma, Xavi and all those guys, so it’s really good, it’s quite fun. You need to hear it.”

WHAT WOULD THE TROPHIES BE LIKE?
“I really love the trophies from the Red Bull Ring with the track layout, the Austrian flag and everything. I think in Mexico we should do something that has the sombrero, to represent the Mexican style and the trophies should also have some tacos around it.”
ANYTHING ELSE YOU’D ADD?
“I think just being in my hometown it will be perfect, it’s already good enough for me.”
